Time to music in iMovie 09 using Beat Markers

I finally got a killer new mac screen capture program that will allow me to start creating killer tutorial videos and tips for photographers. Here is my first attempt. It is a short tutorial teaching you guys how to use Beat Markers in iMovie 09 to quickly and easily place transitions for your photos so they flow with the music. It is very similar to David Jay's software Show It Web's custom timing option. This is by far THE best feature of iMovie 09 and without it, I would have no skills timing my photos with the music. I hope this helps you guys out. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email or post it here on the blog for others to see.

Thank you for being so photographer friendly! I love that you are willing to help out the little guy! I just enjoy taking peoples photos on the side, I am not looking to make a lot of money, but I am looking to do a really good job. I appreciate all your tips and tricks! I am saving up to hopefully take one of your awesome classes that you offer!

Thanks Amy Jo :) I am happy to help people out if it makes their lives easier. As photographers we are almost always chained to the computer so it's my hope to simplify things and teach you guys way to save time and do things better.

Spencer and Jessica. Are you on iMovie 09? or iMovie 08? It should just automatically show up if you are using iMovie 09, unless you are referring to the m's that are popping up on the screen. Those are just my screen capture program showing you guys what keys I am hitting. Let me know what version you are on and I'll see if I can't help

Oh, that's what it is. I have imovie 08 I am pretty sure. because I got my macbook last november. Thanks for the reply though, can I still make it work in imovie 08?

Spencer and Jessica,

Yeah, I think it's only available in iMovie 09 :( It's well worth the upgrade though :) With the addition of beat markers and the awesome video stabilizing feature, I would totally upgrade. Sorry I couldn't help with 08

Have you ever done it with more than one song in a project? I can't seem to get a second song to do this after my first beat timed song.

have you also done it with transitions? It seems to throw off everything when I add a transition.
